The maestro painter and sculptor, Padmashri Tilak Gitai is a legend who has played with the beauty of lines, curves, and colors and assembled them into forms that bewitch lovers of art. His exquisite miniature paintings which are on display in museums all over the world are expositions of Indian culture and traditions. His sculptures are so amazingly realistic that they almost seem to breathe. As a researcher, he has established the theory of equivalence of musical notes and colors and has thus been able to depict Indian raags in corresponding paintings. He is also the author of the book entitled, ‘Raagmala – The Missing Link’, wherein he expounds his theory of correspondence of musical notes and colors.
