I was an atheist, to begin with, but understanding the nature of the suffering of my patients and their families and often stuttering when trying to address their religious and spiritual issues, I embarked upon my own journey of self-realization and study of religion. Slowly I also began to understand the importance of ritualism and most importantly the role of religion and spirituality in sustaining hope!
